Nitto Terra Grappler G3 vs Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3

American tire manufacturers have rolled out plenty of intriguing products in the all-terrain market over the past few years. Falken Wildpeak A/T4W has already proved itself as a viable replacement for the A/T3W, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Nitto Terra Grappler G3 will take over the mantle from the Grappler G2. As part of the Bridgestone Dueler line, the Dueler A/T Revo 3 is a highly durable option. Though it's been around since 2018, which makes it the older tire, it has been updated in 2024.

As always, Nitto produces visually appealing tires, and this one is no exception. We feel it is the better-looking tire when compared to the Bridgestone Dueler A//T Revo 3, though some of you may have a different opinion. Nitto was established way back in 1949, much earlier as compared to 1967 for Bridgestone in America. The product portfolios of both brands include different types of tires, such as racing, highway, UHP, all-terrain, and all-season.

There are at least six plants worldwide that produce Nitto tires. Our goal is to determine which all-terrain tire is superior by comparing the Nitto Terra Grappler G3 with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3. We'll start by giving you additional information about each tire before comparing them according to several criteria. Nitto Terra Grappler G3

Suitable for fitment into light trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs, the Nitto Terra Grappler G3 is an all-terrain tire with big tread blocks and deep grooves for improved traction, grip and control in rough terrain. Equipped with the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certification, the Terra Grappler G3 performs exceptionally well in wet and moderate to severe winter weather conditions. It enhances grip and traction to deliver better performances in off-road, icy, and snowy areas, thanks to its unique sidewall design and multiple sipes.

Variable pitch tread blocks enable the tire to be relatively quiet. It comes with a limited manufacturer treadwear warranty to offer peace of mind to the drivers, and specifics pertaining to this will be provided soon enough. The Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 has been specially designed to take on intense weather conditions, both on and off the beaten track. It features advanced Traction Claw technology for better performance on snowy and wet surfaces while offering buyers a healthy limited manufacturer tread life warranty. An aggressive and new tread pattern ensures better grip in snow and off-road conditions while looking good. For effective water evacuation, the tire features 3D steps and open shoulder slots. Expect extra biting edges on irregular, soft surfaces through staggered shoulder lugs.

Though the tread depth here is pretty high for an all-terrain tire, it is still a touch lower than that of the Nitto Terra Grappler G3. Dry performance is on par with wet performance here and the tire was found suitable for an average SimpleScore of 8.9.

Nitto Terra Grappler G3 vs Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 tires on traction

The purpose of traction on an all-terrain tire is to maintain constant contact with the ground, be it mud, tar, soil, or sand, to keep the car from sliding. With its redesigned tread pattern, all-new compound, and deep grooves that quickly channel mud and water for safety on wet roads, the Terra Grappler G3 produces exceptional wet grip and an astounding average traction SimpleScore of 9.0. The tire's overall on- and off-road traction is further improved by the revised tread design, which has more biting edges than previously. Full-depth sipes are used in tires to increase grip and maintain their appearance over time. The Block Foundation has been strengthened for more traction and stiffness. Additionally, this tire also stands apart due to the availability of Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certification for severe winter service.

Compared to the above, there’s a new, aggressive tread pattern on the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 to boost traction in off-road conditions and snow. However, the lack of Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certification and the lower tread depth mean that you won’t feel confident in moderate to severe snow. Open shoulder slots, stepped grooves, and Traction Claw technology ensure excellent on- and off-road traction, whether in dry or wet conditions. This tire also gets extra biting edges, but through staggered shoulder lugs. On the roads, we found the Dueler A/T Revo 3 to be slightly better than the Terra Grappler G3, receiving a 9.4.

When to use each

While there are full-depth sipes on the Nitto Terra Grappler G3, the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 gets a combination of wide circumferential grooves, water evacuation pathways, and Traction Claw technology. Overall, we found the Bridgestone to be the better tire for traction. However, the Nitto is the more attractive tire and handles better. Bridgestone may have the more popular name on the whole, but Nitto has created an exclusive niche for itself in the off-road space.

Compared to mud-terrain tires, all-terrain tires offer superior on-road performance and reduced noise levels for a more relaxing and quiet ride. If you drive primarily on paved roads and occasionally off-road, highway tires are the best substitute. On the other hand, mud-terrain tires are a preferable option if your workhorse frequently travels through highly muddy areas.
