Cooper Evolution tires

Cooper Evolution

Founded in Akron, Ohio way back in 1914, Cooper Tire & Rubber is one of America’s oldest and most respected tire manufacturers. Today, Cooper is part of the Goodyear family of brands and benefits from Goodyear’s manufacturing and distribution prowess, but Cooper tires are still distinctly Cooper, with the reputation for quality, performance, and value that goes with the name.

With the Evolution line of light truck and passenger tires, Cooper brings a lot to the table…the Evolution tire family is designed for durability and performance, with state-of-the-art design and materials and top-notch workmanship. With a selection of mud-terrain, highway-terrain, winter, performance, and all-season tires, the Evolution tire family from Cooper has a little something for just about every light truck application and every driver’s needs and driving style.

Cooper Evolution M/T

Cooper Evolution M/T

The Evolution M/T is Cooper’s Maximum Traction tire, designed for the durability and stubborn grip that you need in the most difficult situations, far from any paved road. The Evolution M/T’s mud-terrain tread design features large, independent tread blocks with a wide void ratio and 20/32” tread depth, easily flinging mud and debris from the grooves so there’s always a clear section of tread to dig in as the wheel turns. The reinforced Trail Grip Sidewall and heavy-duty cut-and-puncture resistant tread compound give the Evolution M/T the durability it needs for aired-down rock crawling, with alternating scoops in the shoulder blocks that deliver lateral traction as they churn through ruts and claw their way over obstacles or thick, sticky mud. Stone Barriers and Mud Slingers between tread blocks aid in self-cleaning of gravel and debris. The Cooper Evolution M/T is pre-drilled for easy installation of studs in case of severe winter weather (always check state laws for the legality of studded tires where you live, and any calendar restrictions on their use). Due to its softer tread compound (designed to stay flexible at subfreezing temperatures), the Evolution M/T will wear quickly in warmer weather and shouldn’t be used if temperatures are above 40-45 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cooper Evolution Winter

Cooper Evolution Winter

When the snow starts coming down hard and heavy and piles up several inches deep on the roads, one thing’s for sure: all-season or highway-terrain tires are most likely not going to be able to get the job done for you. That’s when you need purpose-built winter tires like the Evolution Winter from Cooper. The Evolution Winter is designed with an aggressive winter tread pattern with a sawtooth-shaped center rib for enhanced stability in winter driving (as well as giving a boost to steering response). The directional winter tread includes wide, rigid tread blocks with sweeping grooves to eliminate water and slush from the contact patch to resist hydroplaning. Initial tread depth is 12/32” for dependable grip as well as good wear properties, and strong outboard shoulder blocks with open notches work as a system with a dense multi-angle network of sipes for consistent acceleration, control, and braking. The Evolution Winter is pre-drilled for easy installation of studs in case of severe winter weather and ice (always check state laws for the legality of studded tires where you live , and any calendar restrictions on their use). Internal design details of the Evolution Winter include a reinforced sidewall and a 1-ply polyester casing with twin steel belts and a single-ply nylon cap layer for durability and stability. Due to its softer tread compound (designed to stay flexible at subfreezing temperatures), the Evolution Winter will wear quickly in warmer weather and shouldn’t be used if temperatures are above 40-45 degrees Fahrenheit.

Other Cooper Evolution tires

Other Cooper Evolution

In addition to the above tires, the Cooper Evolution family of tires also includes the:

  • Cooper Evolution ATT: Tough and versatile all-terrain tire, designed for a balance of composed road manners and handling on the highway with rugged all-terrain performance off the pavement. Aggressive lug tread with large tread blocks, wide grooves for good self-cleaning of mud and debris, with a damage-resistant tread formulation, and reinforced internal design. Outlined white letter sidewall is available for select sizes. Cooper covers the Evolution ATT with a 60,000 mile limited manufacturer’s tread life warranty for select sizes.

  • Cooper Evolution Sport: Designed as a performance tire for warmer weather, the Cooper Evolution Sport delivers sharp and responsive handling, braking performance, and steering feedback. Its solid center rib enhances straight-line stability and road manners as well as enabling quick, light steering response. Wide grooves efficiently drain standing water from the tire’s footprint to resist hydroplaning, and reinforced shoulder blocks resist tread squirm and deformation during hard cornering. NOTE: the Evolution Sport from Cooper is designed as a summer tire, and its softer summer tread will stiffen and lose traction on colder days. The Evolution Sport should not be used if temperatures are below 40-45 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Cooper Evolution Tour: The Evolution Tour is a passenger Grand Touring tire designed for year-round performance and traction along with a quiet, refined ride and capable handling. The Evolution Tour is designed with an advanced tread formulation for long wear and wet-weather traction, and an optimized footprint that puts more rubber on the road for enhanced handling, grip, and braking performance. 3D MicroGauge sipes boost wet-weather performance while StabiliEdge blocks within the tread enhance grip and handling on dry roads. The Evolution Tour is covered by Cooper with a 65,000 mile limited manufacturer’s tread life warranty.

  • Cooper Evolution H/T: The Evolution H/T is Cooper’s highway-terrain light truck tire from the Evolution family, with an all-season tread that features StabiliEdge blocks, 3D MicroGauge sipes, and a system of circumferential and angled lateral grooves for year-round performance. The continuous center groove helps to enhance straight-line stability and road manners along with delivering quick, light, direct steering response. The Evolution H/T’s tread pitch is randomized and computer-tuned to cancel certain frequencies and overtones for a quiet ride, and select sizes are available with a great-looking outlined white letter sidewall. Cooper covers the Evolution H/T with a 60,000 mile limited manufacturer’s tread life warranty.
