Replacing tires in 5 steps.

Inspect your tires and consider replacement of your tires if the tread depth is 4/32nds of an inch or less, if there is irregular tread wear or if the tire is damaged.

Determine how many tires to replace from the tire inspection. Replacing all four tires is optimal, but when only replacing 2 tires, install them on the rear axle of the vehicle to help prevent hydroplaning.

From all season tires to performance tires, SimpleTire offers a wide range of 14” tires meant to complement any driving style or road condition.

The 14” tire is pretty much an anomaly these days. By the '90s and early '00s it was common on subcompacts, but when you go back to the '60s, 14s were common on plenty of midsize and even full-size cars. Today, you won’t find that many new models rolling on 14s, but there are still plenty of older cars on the road that use that tire size.

Let’s start out with the 185/65R14, a tire size you’ll find an older model Ford Escort, early '00s Honda Civic, Dodge Neon, '90s-era Subaru Impreza and Toyota Celica models. Some great tire options in this size range include the Michelin Defender T+H, Goodyear Assurance All Season, General Altimax RT43, Yokohama Avid Touring-S, Nokian WR G4, Falken Sincera SN250 A/S and Kumho Solus TA31.

Another common size for 14s is the 195/70R14, a tire size that’s on the '80s-era BMW 6 Series, Chrysler LeBaron, Chevrolet Beretta, Ford Aerostar, '90s-era Toyota Camry, Pontiac Grand Am and Dodge Stratus models. Popular tire models for this size range include the Goodyear Assurance ComforTred, Toyo Extensa A/S II, Falken Sincera SN250 A/S, Kumho Solus TA11 and Nexen N’Priz AH5.

Going a little narrower, the 185/70R14 could be found on '80s and '90s examples of the Ford Probe, Dodge Aries, Honda Accord, Chrysler LeBaron and Kia Sephia as well as later versions of the Ford Fusion. When you’re looking for tires in this size range, check out the Goodyear Assurance All Season, Michelin Defender T+H, Yokohama Avid Touring-S, General Altimax RT43, Cooper Evolution Tour and Crosswind HP010 Plus.
